Diarmuid Boyd
DIARMUID BOYD, born in 1951, was educated in Northern Ireland before moving to Dublin in 1964 where he continued his education. He entered the National College of Art and Design in 1968 to study fine art, proceeding from there to the Ulster College of Art. Diarmuid has a long list of solo exhibitions under his belt and has exhibited in the Green Gallery since 1995. He also exhibits regularly at the Royal Hibernian Academy.
Diarmuid is a highly respected Irish painter, having studied and exhibited as far afield as Domicile in Florence. Much of his younger years were spent travelling Europe, living in Germany, Cyprus and the United Kingdom at various times.
Public collections of Diarmuid's work include the headquarters of Norwich Union and the V.H.I., as well as the Faculty of Engineering at U.C.D. Private collectors include Mike Murphy, Thelma Mansfield, Norma Smurfit and the celebrated American crime novelist, Patricia Cornwell.
Diarmuid's ingenious talent of capturing the warmth and atmosphere of traditional Irish scenes has secured his position at the forefront of Irish art.
